Hola Señors and Señoritas!

Another season is upon us, which means more anime to run through and dabble with in my free time. I’m gonna give you the potential bangers and personal choices I’m feeling in the early moments of the Fall 2022 season. And honestly, there was a lot to choose from this season.

Let’s go:

Nowadays it feels like MAPPA can do no wrong, and this has been MAPPA’s most interesting prospect for the past few years, and it’s finally here.  The hyper stylized, uber popular manga is finally getting the anime adaptation and no punches are being pulled in terms of quality.  The trailers alone have been absolutely crazy looking and that’s before you take a dive into the story itself.

Simplistic in nature: Guy wants to spend time with Girl while living his days out peacefully.  But lunatic in the details: Man is forced by Yakuza to kill devils to pay off debt and oh yeah the Chainsaw thing.  I’m going into this with very little knowledge but the nuggets that have been provided by Twitter and the Trailers, so I’m strapped in and ready to fucking go.

The 2nd part (or 2nd season?  Not sure.) of Spy x Family comes only a few months after the first 12 episodes completed, providing more lovable wholesome family content for fans.  I absolutely adored the first season and was honestly surprised to see the next batch come so soon, but after watching the first episode the quality has not dipped.  The makeshift family of the Forgers: Spy, Assassin, Telepath, and now Canine Psychic continue their pursuit of individual goals of world peace, safety, and keeping a rag-tag family together.

Who saw this coming?  After 10 years, Bleach comes back this season to put the exclamation mark on a long-lasting anime series dating back to 2004.  In accordance with the 20th anniversary of the IP, the serie’s last manga arc is being brought to TV.  Back into the world of Quincies and Soul Reapers we go as Ichigo’s final battle begins with the Thousand-Year Blood War.  To be fair, my knowledge on this franchise is low due to what I felt was an egregious amount of filler (but this has always been a Shonen Jump problem), but a tighter arc might be just the thing to finish the story on the right foot.

Who saw this coming?  After, uh, *checks notes* 36 years: the Future Funk Queen, Lum, and company will air on TV again with a reboot of the manga first printed all the way back in 1978.  The show follows the unusual relationship between every-man Ataru Moroboshi and the Alien girl Lum as they stumbled into married life when Lum believes they are married after an accidental proposal to her.  This is a time-cherished and beloved IP that’s stood the test of time and to see it rebooted for the current masses is insane.  Worth the watch and I hope it gets all the love it deserves.

IYKYK.  The anime variety show of two high school girls voiced by two dudes if you watch the 2nd half with absolutely no rules as to what you might see or hear.  An absolute fever dream of ideas and parodies of the very medium it finds itself in.  15 minutes of head-shaking ridiculousness, gut-busting laughter, and screenshotting your next meme for Twitter.  Get ready to repeat a lot of this to your friends.

Now suck on this Lemon.

Fuck you.  I like this series, kiss my ass.

Others to look into:

That’s all I have for this Season! Anything else I should be watching? Let me know.
