Hola Señors and Señoritas!
Another season is upon us, which means more anime to run through and dabble with in my free time. I’m gonna give you the potential bangers and personal choices I’m feeling in the early moments of the Summer 2024 season. Let’s go:
As always, everything is now hyperlinked to their respective MAL page. Click the images below for more info on the shows!

What a shock this was when it first came out! Though my feelings on the first season were mixed I’ve seen on multiple platforms that the arc they’re highlighting this Season is where the stuff really starts hitting. So while I felt myself tapering away as the previous season ended, here they are pulling me right back in. Here’s to hoping we get back to the actual mystery bits that made the first few episodes so tantalizing (and more Akane please!) and we shy away from the fluff.

This was originally an anime I was going to bypass as it didn’t really catch my attention, but blame the internet for this being here because the screencaps and videos of the show are ridiculous, I mean look at the promo splash for this show on MAL: What is even happening here? This looks to be either tragically mid or could hit Asobi Asobase levels of hilarity and I refuse to believe there’s any chance it’ll land anywhere in the middle. I’m all in for a few episodes to see where this lands.

Of the two video game based animes to come out this year, I bet you weren’t expecting me to pass on NieR were you? I’ve dabbled a small bit into the 2020 VN (maybe 5-10hrs into what can get to over 100+ hours if you devote to seeing every route) that has already spawned a dedicated ongoing Manga starting back in 2022, but this could be the kick to get me back into the groove of this widely popular IP. Very curious as to where they will decide which route is canon, and honestly that’s half the fun with these adaptations!

I know people my age (see: old) will fondly remember Chobits being a quintessential piece of media in the 90s, alongside having a fucking banger opening theme. So quench my thirst why don’t you seeing another slice-of-life romance between robot and man to hopefully tug on my heartstrings and not be too weird. On one side of the coin, this will tackle futuristic questions of AI and human emotions coexisting amongst one another and the toll it could take on someone loving another incapable of reciprocating those feelings by way of their technologic basis. The other side is hee-hee couple cute.

LET’S FUCKING GO. One of my most favorite anime of all time getting a ridiculously super unexpected Season 3 courtesy of Netflix will get me to give them a month’s worth of cash so I can indulge in this. We stan Sawako and Shouta’s happiness in this house (ed: wait, we have anime rules in this house? ) and I will fist fight you otherwise. If this season can continue the sugary-sweet innocence between these two combined with the stellar supporting cast from previous seasons, this will immediately hold a spot in contention for Anime of the Year.
